Short and punchy
Memes work best with a few words per caption. Long captions get smaller to fit, and small text is hard to read on a phone.
Readable on any photo
Keep the outline on: white letters with a black edge read well on light and dark parts of the photo.
Your own line breaks
Press Enter in a caption to start a new line where you want it. Otherwise the lines break between words.
Use your own photos
Well-known meme pictures from the internet are often protected by copyright. Use them only if you are allowed to; your own photos are the safe choice.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The meme is made in your browser, on your own device, and the photo is not sent anywhere.
Why does the font look different on my phone?
Fonts come from your device. Impact is not on every phone, so a similar bold font is used there. The preview shows what your file gets on this device.
Can I write in Cyrillic or use emoji?
Yes. Capital letters work for Cyrillic and other alphabets too. Emoji come from your device's font, like the letters.
Is a watermark added to my meme?
No. The file contains only your photo and your captions.
Does the meme lower the quality of the photo?
The photo keeps its size in pixels. JPEG and WebP are saved at quality 90, PNG without any loss.
Is there a size limit?
Files can be up to 50 MB. Images up to 100 megapixels work on a computer, and up to 16.7 on phones and tablets, because mobile browsers have less memory for images.
